Description

The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR588 (SKU: LENOVOSR588003) is a 2U rack server designed for enterprise and SMB data center workloads. It belongs to the SR500 series and targets virtualization, storage services, and general IT infrastructure.

This configuration uses an Intel Xeon Silver 4210R processor with 32GB TruDDR4 memory. As a result, it delivers efficient compute performance for mid-range workloads. In addition, the platform supports up to 2× Intel Xeon Scalable processors and scales memory up to 1TB across 16 DIMM slots. This enables flexible growth and workload expansion.

The system provides structured storage capability. It supports up to 8× 3.5″ drive bays in this configuration and ships without pre-installed disks. Moreover, the SR588 platform supports up to 16× 2.5″ or 12× 3.5″ drives with optional NVMe support via AnyBay. It also supports M.2 boot drives for OS deployment. This improves both performance and deployment flexibility.

For storage control, this SKU includes a Lenovo 530i RAID controller. This ensures data protection and RAID support for enterprise storage environments.

For networking, the system includes 2×1GbE Ethernet ports. Furthermore, it supports expansion to higher-speed networking such as 10GbE through PCIe and LOM adapters. It also provides up to 6 PCIe 3.0 slots for I/O expansion and accelerator integration.

The SR588 fits enterprise data centers, SMB deployments, and branch environments. It works well as a virtualization host, file server, or application platform. Additionally, it supports VMware, Hyper-V, Linux distributions, and Lenovo XClarity for centralized management.

For reliability, the system includes a 550W power supply with support for redundant configurations. It also uses hot-swappable components, including drives and cooling fans. This ensures continuous operation and high availability.
