This Cisco ASA next generation firewall platform is suited to deployments that require high connection capacity, rack-based installation and a combination of copper and 10 Gigabit interfaces.
The twelve copper ports are identified as Ethernet 1/1 through 1/12, while the four fixed SFP+ ports are identified as interfaces 1/13 through 1/16. The dedicated management interface separates appliance administration from the primary data interfaces.
The FPR2140-ASA-K9 provides 20 Gbps stateful and 10 Gbps multiprotocol throughput, compared with 6 Gbps and 3 Gbps for the FPR2120-ASA-K9. It also supports three million concurrent connections and 75,000 new connections per second, compared with 1.5 million and 28,000; both use the same 1RU dimensions.
