Description

The ASUS DSL-AC55U (SKU: DSL-AC55U) is a dual-band VDSL/ADSL modem router designed for home and small office broadband environments. It integrates DSL modem functionality with wireless routing, making it suitable for ADSL, VDSL, fiber (Ethernet WAN), and backup connectivity scenarios.

This device supports WiFi 5 (802.11ac) with combined speeds up to 1200 Mbps. It delivers up to 867 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 300 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. As a result, it provides balanced wireless performance for streaming, browsing, and multi-device environments.

The router supports VDSL2, ADSL2/2+, and ADSL standards. In addition, it includes dual WAN capability (DSL + Ethernet WAN). Therefore, it allows flexible deployment as a modem router or standalone router. It also supports 3G/4G failover via USB, which ensures continuous connectivity.

For wired connectivity, the DSL-AC55U includes Gigabit Ethernet ports with hardware NAT acceleration. As a result, it delivers WAN-to-LAN throughput exceeding 900 Mbps and avoids bottlenecks on high-speed connections.

The device includes a USB 2.0 port. Therefore, it supports printer sharing, storage sharing, media streaming, and 3G/4G dongles. It also enables NAS functionality when external storage is connected.

The router runs ASUSWRT firmware. It provides centralized control, traffic monitoring, QoS, and VPN server/client support (PPTP/OpenVPN). In addition, it includes AiProtection powered by Trend Micro, which enhances network security and parental controls.
