Description

The ASUS DSL-AC88U (SKU: DSL-AC88U) is a high-performance dual-band VDSL/ADSL modem router designed for advanced home and SMB networking. It integrates a DSL modem with a high-end WiFi router, making it suitable for broadband, fiber (Ethernet WAN), and hybrid connectivity environments.

This device supports WiFi 5 (802.11ac) with combined speeds up to 3167 Mbps (AC3100 class). It uses 4×4 MIMO on both bands and NitroQAM (1024-QAM) technology. As a result, it increases throughput and improves efficiency for high-bandwidth applications such as 4K streaming and gaming.

The router supports multiple broadband standards, including VDSL2, ADSL2/2+, ADSL, and G.fast. Therefore, it ensures compatibility with current and next-generation DSL networks. In addition, it supports Ethernet WAN and 3G/4G USB connectivity. This enables flexible deployment and automatic failover for uninterrupted connectivity.

For wireless coverage, the DSL-AC88U uses a 4T4R antenna design with AiRadar beamforming. As a result, it improves signal strength, coverage range, and connection stability across multiple devices.

For wired connectivity, the router includes Gigabit Ethernet ports and USB 3.0/2.0 interfaces. These support high-speed LAN connections, storage sharing, printer sharing, and mobile broadband backup. In addition, USB 3.0 enables faster data transfer for network-attached storage use cases.

The device runs ASUSWRT firmware. It provides centralized management, QoS, VPN support, and advanced configuration. It also includes AiProtection powered by Trend Micro, which delivers network-wide security, intrusion prevention, and parental controls without subscription fees.

The DSL-AC88U fits power users, gamers, and SMB environments. It works well for high-density networks, multimedia streaming, and hybrid WAN deployments that require both performance and flexibility.
