Description

The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR588 (SKU: LENOVOSR588005) is a 2U rack server designed for enterprise and data center workloads. It belongs to the SR500 series and targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and general-purpose IT applications.

This configuration uses an Intel Xeon Silver 4208 processor with 32GB TruDDR4 memory. As a result, it delivers efficient compute performance for entry to mid-range workloads. In addition, the platform supports up to 2× Intel Xeon Scalable processors and scales memory up to 1TB across 16 DIMM slots. This enables flexible growth and workload expansion.

The system provides flexible storage architecture. It supports 8× 2.5″ drive bays in this configuration. Moreover, the SR588 platform supports up to 16× 2.5″ or 12× 3.5″ drives, including NVMe via optional AnyBay backplane. It also supports up to 2× M.2 drives for OS boot. This improves both performance and deployment flexibility.

For networking, this SKU includes 2×1GbE interfaces. Furthermore, it supports higher-speed connectivity such as 10GbE through LOM and PCIe expansion. It also provides up to 6 PCIe 3.0 slots for I/O scalability and accelerator support.

The SR588 fits enterprise data centers, SMB environments, and branch deployments. It works well as a virtualization host, application server, or database platform. Additionally, it supports technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Linux distributions, Intel Optane persistent memory, and Lenovo XClarity for centralized management.

For reliability, the system includes hot-swappable components. It supports redundant 550W/750W power supplies and redundant cooling fans. This ensures continuous operation and high availability.
