The Juniper S-MX-4C-A1-C1-P is a 4-port controller card designed for use in MX Series routers. It provides additional control-plane capacity and management interfaces for service provider and enterprise routing platforms. This card is also compatible with MX480, MX960, and other modular MX Series routers. As a result, it enables enhanced route processing, redundancy, and failover capabilities.
The “P” designation indicates AC power support, making it suitable for deployments in AC-powered chassis. When installed in an MX router, the S-MX-4C-A1-C1-P allows operators to manage multiple line cards. In addition, it lets them scale routing services efficiently and maintain high availability with redundancy options.
This controller card is often used in conjunction with PREMIUM or BASE license options to activate line card functionality. It also helps scale interface capacity in carrier-grade networks.
