Description

The Juniper EX4600‑40F is a high‑performance, fixed configuration enterprise fiber access and aggregation switch. It is built for modern campus, branch, and data center environments. These environments demand high‑speed fiber connectivity and advanced networking features.

Running Juniper’s Junos OS, the EX4600‑40F supports robust Layer 2 and Layer 3 services. These include EVPN‑VXLAN, BGP/OSPF routing, QoS, ACLs, and deep telemetry. In addition, all of these features are tightly integrated with Juniper Mist AI (Wired Assurance). This integration enables automated insights, proactive troubleshooting, and cloud‑driven management.

This model provides 40× fixed SFP28 fiber ports capable of 1 GbE, 10 GbE, and 25 GbE operation with compatible optics. Therefore, it offers flexible high‑speed access or uplinks. You do not have to rely on traditional copper interfaces.

For uplinks and fabric interconnects, the switch includes 8× QSFP28 ports that can be configured as 40 GbE or 100 GbE. In addition, these can be broken out into multiple 25 GbE connections. As a result, you get scalable network design.

Meanwhile, with up to 6.4 Tbps bidirectional switching capacity and low latencies, the EX4600‑40F handles demanding east‑west and north‑south traffic patterns. This is especially true in campus fabrics and data center leaf layers.

The EX4600‑40F supports Virtual Chassis and Virtual Chassis Fabric (VCF) technology, enabling multiple units (up to 10) to be managed and operated as a single logical chassis. This provides simplified scaling and resilience.

In addition, MACsec AES‑256 encryption provides secure link‑layer protection. This ensures secure connectivity over fiber segments.

Optional hot‑swappable power supplies and fan trays with front‑to‑back (or configurable) airflow make the switch suitable for rack environments with strict cooling requirements.
