The Juniper Networks QFX5120-48Y-AFI is a high-performance, low-latency data center switch designed for modern cloud, enterprise, and service provider environments. As part of the QFX5120 Series, this compact 1U switch delivers exceptional scalability, flexibility, and automation capabilities for spine-leaf architectures and high-speed aggregation deployments.
The switch features 48 SFP28 ports supporting 1GbE, 10GbE, and 25GbE speeds, along with 8 QSFP28 uplink ports supporting 100GbE (or 40GbE). This flexible port configuration allows seamless integration into leaf-spine architectures and enables scalable bandwidth expansion using breakout cables.
Delivering up to 4 Tbps bidirectional throughput (2 Tbps unidirectional) with ultra-low latency (~500–800 ns), the QFX5120-48Y-AFI ensures consistent high-speed performance for latency-sensitive applications such as cloud services, high-frequency trading, and large-scale data processing.
The AFI (Airflow In) design provides back-to-front airflow, making it ideal for hot aisle/cold aisle data center environments. The system supports redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fan modules, ensuring high availability and operational continuity.
Powered by Junos OS, the switch supports advanced networking technologies including EVPN-VXLAN, MPLS, BGP, and Layer 2/Layer 3 features, enabling scalable and automated data center fabrics.
