Description
The Juniper MPC7E-MRATE is a high-performance multi-rate Modular Port Concentrator (MPC) line card designed for Juniper Networks MX Series routers, including platforms such as MX240, MX480, MX960, and MX2000. It delivers flexible, high-density interface options with support for 10 GbE, 40 GbE, and 100 GbE connectivity, making it ideal for service providers, data centers, and large enterprise core networks.
Equipped with 12× QSFP+/QSFP28 ports, the MPC7E-MRATE allows each port to operate in multiple modes (e.g., 40 GbE or breakout into 4×10 GbE), while 4 ports support native 100 GbE, enabling scalable bandwidth upgrades without hardware replacement. Powered by Juniper’s Trio chipset architecture, the card provides advanced forwarding, deep buffering, and high scalability for bandwidth, subscribers, and services.
The line card delivers line-rate throughput up to ~480 Gbps per slot depending on chassis and fabric configuration, while supporting large MTU sizes, advanced QoS, and flexible queuing options. It is optimized for high-capacity routing environments requiring efficient traffic handling, service scaling, and long-term investment protection through multi-rate flexibility.
Key Features:
- 12× QSFP+/QSFP28 ports supporting 10G / 40G / 100G multi-rate configurations
- Up to ~480 Gbps line-rate throughput per slot (platform dependent)
- 4 ports support native 100 GbE (QSFP28) for high-capacity uplinks
- Flexible breakout capability (1×40G → 4×10G) for port density optimization
- Powered by Junos Trio chipset for advanced scaling, QoS, and services
- Supports large MTU sizes (up to 16,000 bytes) and advanced queuing features
