Description
The Cisco PA-T3 is a high-speed serial port adapter. It is designed for Cisco 7000 and 7200 series routers and related platforms.
This module provides 1 × T3 (DS3) serial interface. It supports data transmission at speeds up to 45 Mbps, making it suitable for legacy WAN and carrier connections.
The PA-T3 includes an integrated Data Service Unit (DSU). This allows direct connection to T3 lines without requiring external equipment.
It supports multiple WAN protocols such as:
- Frame Relay
- PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol)
- HDLC
- SMDS
The module uses full-duplex synchronous communication. It supports 16-bit and 32-bit CRC for error detection and improved data integrity.
Connectivity is provided through 75-ohm coaxial cables (BNC connectors). These are standard for DS3/T3 telecom links.
The PA-T3 is commonly used in service provider networks, enterprise WAN backbones, and telecom environments that require high-speed serial connectivity.
